Resolve emotional issues and improve your mental health and sense of well-being, all in a supportive and safe space.
Nearly 1 in 5 people struggle with mental health.
Over 1 in 3 people report significant psychological distress as a result of struggles coping with the Covid-19 pandemic.
Psychotherapy is an effective and scientifically validated way to reduce emotional issues and improve mental health.
It can provide you with a better understanding of your struggles and a fresh perspective on your life.
If you have questions about whether therapy is right for you, let’s talk.
Having worked as a therapist for over 35 years, my goal is to help you see things in a new way, to help you have fulfilling relationships with others and yourself, and to help you find relief from anxiety, depression, trauma and other things that prevent you from enjoying a full life. Over the years I’ve provided psychotherapy and counseling to adults and couples from a wide range of life-experiences. I’m honored to have been named one of Long Beach’s Three Top Rated Psychologist in 2020, 2021, and again in 2022.
The initial meeting is not a therapy session. It’s really just a chance for me to meet you and make sure I can be helpful to you. More importantly, it’s a chance for you to meet me and make sure you’d feel comfortable working with me.The meeting generally lasts about 50 minutes, just like a psychotherapy session, and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to ask questions of me.
Absolutely! Because it isn’t a psychotherapy session there is no charge. If we do decide to work together my fee is $250 per session. In accordance with the “No Surprises Act” of 2022, before we first meet you will get a Good Faith Estimate reiterating what you can expect to pay if we work together.
In many ways, I do not have a typical client. I work with a wide range of adult clients: men, women, and non-binary; people who are single, coupled, or in polyamorous relationships; members of the LGBTQ+ communities; neurotypical and neurodivergant people. Having said that, I do only work with adults; there are plenty of therapists who specialize in working with children, teens, and college-age students under the age of 21..
I am not an in-network provider for any insurance plans. However, if you have a PPO plan, your insurance may cover some of our work together. It’s best for you to ask your insurance company if your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits. We can talk more about payments and the claims process at the initial meeting.
Not at all! Since my session are done using a HIPAA Compliant Secure video-chat platform, you can see me from anywhere you have access to the internet, though I advise choosing a place where you have privacy. Whether you enjoy the Southern California beaches or the Northern California redwoods we can work together.
One more thing: psychologists are licensed on a State-by-State basis and as illogical as it may seem, we cannot provide psychotherapy across state lines, even virtually. While I can and do work with people throughout California regardless of where in the state they reside, at this time I am unable to work with clients in other states.
I feel very strongly about confidentiality. What you say to me is between you and me. I have no desire to repeat what you say to me. Legally and ethically I am prohibited from sharing what you tell me or letting anyone you are seeing me. There are three exceptions to confidentiality that rarely come up and apply to extreme situations where you are going to act on plans to hurt others or hurt yourself as well as situations involving child abuse and elder abuse. The technology I use is all HIPAA compliant. If you have concerns about confidentiality, please feel free to ask questions at our initial meeting or email me.
